What this app is

Oops I Bought a House helps new homeowners make sense of common house problems. It gives general starter guides, a typical severity, search links to how-to videos and guides, and quick searches for local pros.

It is not a home inspection and not a diagnosis. Nobody looks at your house through this app. Guides are general and can't account for your home's age, materials or local code. For anything structural, electrical, gas, roof or sewer related, hire a licensed professional.

If you smell gas, see sparks or smoke, have a carbon monoxide alarm going off, see a sagging ceiling, or water is pouring in: leave the area and call 911 or your utility.

Privacy

Effective [effective date]. Oops I Bought a House (“the app”) is run by Elevated Designs LLC (“we”). The app has no server, no accounts and no AI.

What stays on your device. Text you type, photos you add and your house log are saved only in your browser's storage (IndexedDB and local storage). We never receive them. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling deletes them, and we cannot recover them. Use Export to keep a copy.

What leaves your device, and only when you tap. Search and “find a pro” buttons open another site with the words you typed and, if you entered one, your ZIP code. Those sites are YouTube, Google, Google Maps, Yelp, Angi, Thumbtack and the Better Business Bureau. Once you are on their site, their privacy policy applies, not ours.

“I'd use this” button. It counts your taps on your device only. Nothing is sent to us.

No tracking. We use no analytics, ads, cookies for tracking, or sale or sharing of personal information. Fonts load from Google, which receives your IP address when the app loads them.

Children. The app is for adults handling home repairs and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes. If this policy changes, we update the date above in the app.

  1. General information only. Repair guides, checklists and videos are general information. They are not a home inspection, a diagnosis, or professional, engineering or code advice. Codes and conditions vary by location.
  2. Safety first. For gas smells, sparking, flooding, structural movement or anything that feels unsafe, stop and call 911 or your utility. Use the app's emergency and utility shut-off cards, and hire a licensed professional when work needs a permit or license.
  3. Your choices are yours. You decide whether to do a repair yourself. We are not responsible for injury, damage or cost resulting from work you do or hire out.
  4. Other sites and pros. Links to YouTube, Google, Maps, Yelp, Angi, Thumbtack and BBB open services we don't run or endorse. We don't vet, recommend or guarantee any listed professional.
  5. No warranty. The app is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the last 12 months (zero for the free version).
  6. Affiliate links (if added later). If we add shopping links that pay us a commission, we will label them near the link, as the FTC requires.
  7. Changes and law. We may update these terms by changing the date above. South Carolina law governs.
